SACRAMENTO, Calif. — This week, Assemblymember Buffy Wicks (D-Oakland) introduced a suite of legislation to address California’s housing crisis and also announced that she would be coauthoring several other housing bills. Wicks’ bills take a multipronged approach to protect renters, promote affordable housing, and produce new housing for Californians at all income levels.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. —Yesterday, Assemblymember Buffy Wicks (D-Oakland) introduced AB 765, the California Healthy Checkout Aisles for Healthy Families Act, which would prohibit stores from placing sugar-sweetened beverages at checkout aisles.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Today, Assemblymember Buffy Wicks (D-Oakland) joined Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, representatives of Giffords: Courage to Fight Gun Violence, and fellow legislators to announce the formation of a new bicameral working group to prevent gun violence in California.
“I’m proud to be one of the people here to announce the formation of the gun violence working group and humbled by the work of my fellow legislators, many of whom have done tremendous work for years on this issue,” said Wicks. “I’m honored to have Gabby in the Capitol today and it’s personally very meaningful to me.”
SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Buffy Wicks, D-Oakland, was appointed today to the following Assembly committees: Budget, Public Safety, Banking and Finance, Privacy and Consumer Protection, and Rules. In addition to being appointed to the Budget Committee, Assemblymember Wicks was appointed to the influential Budget Subcommittee 4 on State Administration, which has jurisdiction over state funding for housing and homeless programs, the Franchise Tax Board and the administration of the Earned Income Tax Credit and the California Child and Dependent Care Credit, the Workforce Development Board, and many other critical programs administered by the state.
