SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Buffy Wicks, D-Oakland, was appointed today to the following Assembly committees: Budget, Public Safety, Banking and Finance, Privacy and Consumer Protection, and Rules. In addition to being appointed to the Budget Committee, Assemblymember Wicks was appointed to the influential Budget Subcommittee 4 on State Administration, which has jurisdiction over state funding for housing and homeless programs, the Franchise Tax Board and the administration of the Earned Income Tax Credit and the California Child and Dependent Care Credit, the Workforce Development Board, and many other critical programs administered by the state.

“I am honored to receive appointments to five committees that are charged with shaping policy in many critical areas of our state.” Assemblymember Wicks said.  “Serving as a Member of these committees will allow me to play a serious role in addressing some of the most significant issues affecting the residents and working families of Assembly District 15, including: housing affordability and homelessness, criminal justice reform, reducing the tax burdens on working families and parents facing costly child care expenses, and ensuring consumer protection in digital and financial spaces.
